"In
Search Of Morgan
or .....
'Where shall I go this week?' Hey, I know.....
back to Hamburg!!"
On December
15th I left Hamburg after a difficult meeting and prepared to spend a couple of
months at home. In 2009 I spent a lot of time on the road and made at
least 4 or 5 visits to Hamburg which, apart from other things, is the home of
Membran, the company I work with on my CDs. All that time on the road
meant it took me a long time to adjust to being home and to that routine.
Through
Christmas and the New Year, through our version of winter with rain, high (and
damaging) winds and colder than usual temperatures I found myself settling in
slowly but surely. Monica and I were able to face several serious
challenges together and gradually things began to improve.
So, now I
have to leave again and I have very mixed feelings about it this time.
Day 1
As usual, Air
Berlin brought me to Hamburg safely, though we were a little late because of an
air traffic control strike in France.
Maybe it's me
but this "strike" thing has me completely baffled.
It seems that,
every day now, we hear about companies struggling with debt and having to cut
costs, become more efficient just to stay in business etc., while their
employees, skilfully guided by their unions in many cases, think the solution to
potential job losses is to call a strike, thereby straining the company´s
resources further. Doesn´t make a lot of sense to me but then the world now
seems to see conflict as the only solution instead of as a last resort.
Checked into
the Hotel Steigenberger, had some dinner and got to bed as early as possible.
Tomorrow
will be fun but it will also be a long day.
